As a Director, Content Studio, you will lead a team of Account Managers and serve as the strategic linchpin connecting Corporate Affairs Business Partners with the creative functions of the Content Studio, while also collaborating closely with the external communications team. Utilize deep expertise in public relations, new media, and integrated campaigns to drive impactful storytelling and engagement strategies that elevate USAA’s reputation and advance enterprise goals. Ensure seamless alignment and collaboration across internal and external communications efforts—balancing the needs of business partners with contemporary, externally focused campaigns—all grounded in a strong member-first mindset to deliver meaningful, relevant experiences for our military members and their families.
We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office four days per week. This position will be based in San Antonio TX.

What you'll do:
- Leads and oversees the Content Studio Account Managers, providing strategic direction, mentorship, and workload prioritization to ensure high-impact delivery of communications plans supporting enterprise objectives.
- Serves as the primary liaison between the Content Studio and Corporate Affairs Business Partners, acting as a connector to foster collaboration, integrate messaging, and ensure strategic alignment across internal communications efforts.
- Partners closely with the Head of External Affairs and Campaigns to develop and execute contemporary, externally focused campaigns that enhance USAA’s reputation and engagement with key audiences and stakeholders. This includes leveraging modern PR and new media tactics to drive visibility and impact in the public sphere.
- Develops and executes comprehensive PR and new media strategies that leverage traditional and digital platforms—including social media, influencer outreach, online advocacy, and earned media—to enhance USAA’s brand and reputation.
- Drives the planning and management of multi-channel campaigns, ensuring alignment with business priorities, audience insights, and stakeholder expectations.
- Provides expert counsel to senior leaders and subject-matter experts on communication approaches, reputation management, and stakeholder engagement strategies.
- Maintains a deep understanding of financial services industry trends, regulatory environment, and emerging communication practices to proactively identify opportunities and risks.
- Champions data-driven measurement and evaluation of campaign effectiveness, using insights to optimize future strategies and demonstrate business impact.
- Fosters a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the Content Studio team and across Corporate Affairs.
- Builds and oversees a team of professionals through ongoing execution of recruiting, development, retention, coaching and support, performance management, and managerial activities.
- Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
What you have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or related field; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
- 8 years of progressively responsible experience in public relations, new media, and integrated communication.
- 3 years of direct team lead or management experience required.
- Strong strategic thinking skills with demonstrated ability to translate complex business objectives into clear, compelling narratives and actionable communications plans.
- Expertise in audience segmentation, stakeholder analysis, and channel strategy to tailor messages effectively.
- Excellent writing, editing, verbal communication, and presentation skills.
- Experience collaborating cross-functionally in matrixed environments and managing multiple projects simultaneously.

- U.S. military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner
Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $127,310- $243,340.

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
